‘Top 10’ of personalised funeral flowers
Recent industry research* shows that personalised floral tributes are now seen at around 35% per cent of UK funerals, with one in eight people choosing designs in the style of a social networking website logo or mobile phone.
The study into floral tributes – conducted among funeral directors making arrangements and the public – found that cat and dog lovers would choose their pet as a floral tribute, while the love affair with cars extended to death and shopping aficionados wanted to be remembered for buying shoes or handbags.
Many designs give a unique insight into the essence of Britishness, with floral tributes designed to look like a cup of tea, fish and chips and even bingo cards, while the Great British allotment created as a vegetable tribute was among the more unusual choices. Patriotism also featured, with one in eight people choosing flowers in the design of the Union Jack or a national flag.
Funerals are becoming more of a celebration of life, than mourning a loss, so although traditional floral wreaths or arrangements remain popular, more and more people are choosing unusual floral designs as a tribute.
